DETAILING 101 - EXTERIOR

DETAILING 101 - EXTERIOR

Detailing the exterior of a vehicle is an important aspect of maintenance that involves cleaning, protecting, and enhancing the appearance of the vehicle's exterior surfaces.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you detail your ride's exterior.

What You'll Need:

1. Our Ultra Foam Soap
2. Buckets with Grit Guard
3. Microfiber wash mitt
4. Foam Gun or Cannon
5. Garden Hose or Pressure Washer
6. Our HD Wheel Cleaner (if heavy with brake dust) or our All Purpose Cleaner (if Ceramic Coated)
7. Wheel brushes
8. Our Exterior Ceramic Detailer
9. Microfiber towels
10. Our Hex-Grip Tire Shine Applicator pad
11. Our Glossy Tire Shine
12. Our Glass Cleaner

Step-by-step process:

1. Preparation

Park your vehicle in a shaded area to prevent the soap from drying too quickly, which can leave water spots. Gather all your supplies.

2. Wheels, Tires and Fender liners

Start by cleaning one wheel and tire at a time. If wheels are not Ceramic Coated then proceed with applying our Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner and scrub the wheel with appropriate brushes. If wheels are Ceramic Coated then we recommend using our All Purpose Cleaner which is pH Neutral. Scrub fender liners and rinse everything thoroughly. Follow the product instructions for safe application.

3. Bug Removal and other contaminants

If needed, apply our All Purpose Cleaner to road grime and other stubborn contaminants on the paint. Follow the product instructions for safe application.

4. Pre-wash

Use a hose or pressure washer to thoroughly rinse the vehicle, removing loose dirt and debris. Fill one bucket with cleaner water and another with water and 2-4oz Ultra Foam soap or 2oz to 6oz water if using a Foam Cannon. Use a microfiber wash mitt to wash the vehicle from top to bottom. We like to wash the top middle(roof, hood and trunk) of the vehicle first to help prevent swirl marks. Make sure to rinse the mitt in the bucket with clean water to prevent grit from scratching the paint. Continue washing the remainder of the vehicle while leaving the bottom front, side and rear for the very last. Wash off soap thoroughly and proceed to dry vehicle with a vehicle dryer, leaf blower or a microfiber towel.

5: Sealing the surface

Apply our Exterior Ceramic Detailer to protect the painted surface and produce a deep glossy appearance. Follow the product instructions for safe application.

6. Trim and Plastic

Our Interior Ceramic Detailer to rejuvenate faded or dull plastic and rubber parts on your vehicle. Follow the product instructions for safe application.

7. Glass/Windows

Clean the windows using our Glass Cleaner and microfiber towels. Ensure streak-free, clear visibility. Follow the product instructions for safe application.

8. Tire Dressing

Apply our Glossy Tire Shine to give your tires a clean glossy finish. Follow the product instructions for safe application.

9. Quality Check

Go over the vehicle one last time, checking for any spots you may have missed, and touch them up as needed.

10. Finish

Step back and admire your clean detailed ride!

Remember, detailing your vehicle's exterior is not just about appearance; it also helps protect your vehicle's paint and maintain its value. The frequency of detailing depends on factors like climate, how often you drive, and personal preferences, but doing it a few times a year is generally a good practice.
